Jakkampudi attends court
By Our Special Correspondent
RAJAHMUNDRY SEPT. 27. The Minister for Roads and Buildings, Jakkampudi Rammohana Rao, on Monday appeared in the Second and Third Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate courts as a petitioner and as an accused in connection with three separate cases.
The first case relates to a defamation suit filed by the Minister against some local Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders for their allegations of `house grabbing' against him.
In the two other cases, the Minister is facing a charge of assaulting a TDP functionary and others during a byelection to a municipal ward in November 2003, and threatening an Assistant Engineer (Irrigation) at Kadiam.
The Second Additional Judicial First Class Court adjourned the hearing in these cases to February 1.
