Temperature

TIRUCHI, SEPT. 27. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 27.8 degree Celsius and a minimum of 23.4 degree Celsius.

Charge against teachers

Two girl students of the Law College today lodged a complaint with the K.K. Nagar police, alleging "misbehaviour" by two of their teachers.

An inquiry has been opened.

The police had to intervene when students blocked traffic, demanding that the two teachers be suspended, and the suspension of 14 senior students, on ragging charges, be revoked.

At the request of the police, the Principal revoked the suspension.

Court boycott

The Tiruchi Bar Association today decided to boycott courts on Tuesday, condemning the Inspector of the Cantonment All Women Police, Anarkali Begum's attitude to lawyers.

A meeting of the association, held here, decided to initiate legal action against the Inspector.

Power connections

The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board has announced that agricultural power connections, disconnected for default of electricity charges, will be restored immediately.

Farmers have been allowed to apply for restoration of connections, which were given under the self-financing scheme, within two years from the date of disconnection, a TNEB release said. They can contact the TNEB divisional offices or the Office of the Executive Engineer for details.

Mettur level

The level in the Mettur dam stood at 83.71 feet today. The inflow was 11,129 cusecs and the discharge 5,597 cusecs.
