PARIS: Thieves stole two diamonds worth more than $14.2 millions from a display case at a Paris antique show near the Louvre Museum on Monday, police officials said. The theft occurred in mid-afternoon at the 22nd ``Antiquary's Biennial'' trade show at the Carrousel du Louvre while a worker had stepped away for a break, police said. The stand was operated by Swiss watchmaker and jeweller Chopard, show organisers said. An early police investigation found there was no alarm system or video surveillance cameras in place at the display window, but there was no sign of a break-in, police said. The unidentified culprits made off with a 47-carat white diamond worth $7.4 millions and a 15.74 carat blue diamond valued at $6.8 millions, police said. ``There was a little incident a display case of one of our jewellers was forcibly opened,'' show president Christian Deydier said. ``All of the security officers were there.'' ``It happened in a few seconds, surely. The two stones disappeared,'' Mr. Deydier said, adding he knew nothing more about the stones. ``Everything is in the hands of the police.'' AP
