Sir, A patriot's true colours are revealed when he faces inhuman torture. In his hour of trial, Savarkar failed. Compare this with Subramanyam Siva who was afflicted with leprosy while in jail. Siva did not petition the British for mercy. And he is yet to be commemorated.

Sir, Savarkar's philosophy was similar to Jinnah's one religion one country. Can such a man be honoured when secularism is the bedrock of our Constitution?
