Dhaka's help sought for completing fencing work
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI,
SEPT. 28.
The Border Security Force (BSF) chief, Ajai Raj Sharma, said today that the decision to fence the entire India-Bangladesh border was taken to check the illegal movements and crimes on the border.
Speaking at the India-Bangladesh Border Coordination Conference that began here, Mr. Sharma sought the cooperation of the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) for early completion of the fencing work. The transnational capabilities acquired by terrorist organisations required that all countries come together and join hands to fight their evil designs so that terrorism was defeated in all its manifestations, Mr. Sharma said. Field commanders of the two forces should adopt more realistic and pragmatic approach, without being influenced by parochial or other extraneous considerations, in sorting out border problems.
