KANNUR, SEPT. 28 . The Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) State president, P. M. Suresh Babu, has demanded the State Government to introduce a scheme to revive the sick and closed industrial units in the State. Mr. Suresh Babu, told reporters here today that the Oommen Chandy Government should not pursue the `anti-labour' policies of the Antony Government and the previous Nayanar Government. Instead the Government should take the initiative to address the problems of workers. However, the 100-day action plan was largely silent about the problems of workers sick units and the crisis-ridden traditional sector. He demanded the establishment of a separate department and Ministry for the traditional sector. The Government should convene a meeting of trade union leaders in the State to discuss all these issues. Mr. Suresh Babu said the Government should consider the industrial potential of mineral sand mining before taking a final decision.
