North Zone-II lifts trophy
VISAKHAPATNAM,
SEPT. 28.
North Zone-II lifted the P.S. Venkateswara Rao Trophy by gaining the first-innings lead over North Zone-I (East Godavari) in the final of the ACA inter-zone under-15 tournament which ended in a draw at the Ukku Stadium here on Tuesday.
Off-spinner Jasbir Singh picked up five wickets to restrict North Zone-I to 90 in its first innings in reply to North Zone-II's total of 298.
Only Sivam Sarma batted well for East Godavari scoring 21 runs.
North Zone-II's second innings saw Jasbir shining with the bat also, scoring an unbeaten 50. Raja Ramesh claimed five wickets for North Zone-I.
The scores: North Zone-II 298 and 156 for seven (Jasbir Singh 50 not out, Raja Ramesh four for 45) drew with North Zone-I 90 (Jasbir Singh five for 15).
