Malaysian business team meets potential partners

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, SEPT. 28. A 27-member business delegation from Malaysia, representing organisations in both the public and private sectors, and the State Government of Sarawak, held one-to-one discussions here yesterday with potential partners from Chennai and the southern region, at a programme organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Malaysia External Trade Development Organisation (MATRADE).

Headed by Datuk Merlyn Kasimir, Chief Executive of MATRADE, the delegation includes firms in various sectors, including palm oil processing, information technology (IT) and multimedia, petroleum and petrochemicals, education, construction, logistics, beverages and food processing.

Earlier, addressing a seminar on ``Malaysia-India Business Opportunities'', Mr. Kasimir called upon Indian entrepreneurs to take advantage of Malaysia's Multi Media Super Corridor (MSC), which at present hosted 1,106 companies, including 41 from India.

He also called for attention to the scope for higher education in Malaysia, whose colleges offered twinning facilities with universities in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
