HAL beats ADE

BANGALORE, SEPT. 28. HAL defeated ADE 2-0 in a super division football league match for the George Hoover Cup at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Tuesday.

A stroke of misfortune that struck ADE early in the game worked to HAL's advantage. Then came the injury time goal that gave HAL full points to push it to the top of the table with 19 points from seven games — four clear of MEG which has 15 from five. ADE has 10 points from six games.

HAL got an unexpected boost in the 18th minute when ADE defender Sunil accidentally deflected the ball into his own net, while trying to thwart an attempt from Kenneth Onu.

The second HAL goal, which came during injury time, was scored by Kenneth Onu, who dispossessed Sunil and chipped the ball in from about 15 yards.

Earlier in the A division league, AGORC beat Southern Blues 1-0. Gopi scored the match winner in the 80th minute.
