Case against Lalu's daughter dropped

By Our Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, SEPT. 28. The Judicial First Class Magistrate III, Cherian K. Kuriakose, today dropped a case filed against one of the daughters of the Union Minister for Railways, Lalu Prasad, accusing her of assaulting a videographer at the Government Guest House during Mr. Lalu's visit here on September 21.

The public interest complaint was filed by the chairman of the city-based Niyama Sahaya Vedi, Stephen F. Rozario, on behalf of the videographer, Raju, a resident of Ernakulam. It was alleged that the accused had slapped Mr. Raju and abused him when he accidentally knocked against her on the crowded premises of the Guest House.

The magistrate had posted the case for today for recording the petitioner's statement. The complaint was dismissed after Raju, who appeared in the court with a counsel, submitted that he did not have any complaint. Incidentally, Raju had been hired by the Ernakulam unit of the Rashtriya Janata Dal to cover the visit of Mr. Lalu.
