MANGALORE, SEPT. 28. The Deputy Project Director of the Karnataka Urban Development and Coastal Environmental Management Project (KUDCEMP), J.R. Lobo, has said that the city will have an underground drainage network measuring 447 km by December 2005. Speaking to presspersons here today, Mr. Lobo expressed the confidence that work on the project would be completed by 2005 except in the Moodushedde area. He said 326 km of stoneware pipes and 121 km of RCC pipes would be used for the project. The drainage network would have 19,000 manholes.Krishnamurthy, Executive Engineer (No. 2 Division), Mangalore City Corporation cell, KUDCEMP, who took presspersons to spots where the drainage works are under progress, said there would be a manhole every 30 metres.
