G.K. showrooms sealed

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, SEPT. 28. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi today sealed several showrooms, boutiques and offices in the posh Greater Kailash area of South Delhi. Prominent among them included the popular Cotton World -- readymade garments show room -- at M-8, Greater Kailash-I, which is reportedly owned by the former cricket player, Nikhil Chopra. Last week, the civic body had sealed offices and showrooms at M-2, one of which was owned by Roma Dev, wife of former India cricket captain Kapil Dev. The drive to seal residential properties being misused for commercial purposes has been launched on the direction of the Municipal, Commissioner, Rakesh Mehta. A senior official said the MCD today sealed two buildings -- S-13 and M-8 -- in Greater Kailash-I, while the unauthorised portion of R-75 was demolished. Two days ago, MCD had sealed none buildings for similar offence and demolished one.

The Deputy Commissioner, K K. Mishra, said the civic body has also launched a drive against encroachment on public land in South Zone on the direction of the Commissioner. "The drive would continue till the entire area is cleared of encroachments," he said.
