Alleged dacoits arrested

NEW DELHI, SEPT. 28. Four alleged dacoits, who were planning to target a house at New Friends Colony, were arrested by the Special Staff of the South Delhi police on Monday. The police recovered two country-made pistols, four live cartridges and a knife from their possession.

According to the police, the Special Staff received a tip-off that some criminals involved in a robbery case reported from Batla House on September 25 were planning to commit another robbery at New Friends Colony. Further probe revealed that the suspects would gather in Ashoka Park for planning, on which a team led by Inspector Rajinder Singh raided the place and arrested four of them. They were identified as Nazim, Mohammad Zaid, Shahjad Anjum and Mohammad Asim. The fifth accused, Gulfam, managed to flee taking advantage of the darkness.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that Nazim headed the gang. The accused had committed robberies at Meerut, Muzaffarnagar and other parts of Uttar Pradesh, apart from the Gautumpuri and Jama Masjid areas in the Capital.

Robbers nabbed

Two Delhi police personnel trailed and arrested two of the culprits who were fleeing after robbing a man of Rs. 6 lakhs at Chittaranjan Park in South Delhi today.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 11-30 a.m. when Jitender, an employee of GFC Finance, was on his way from Karol Bagh to deposit the money in a bank at Greater Kailash-II. He got down from a bus near E-Block area of Chittaranjan Park where four men surround him, attacked him with knives and snatched away a bag containing the money.

The victim raised an alarm, hearing which a Sub-Inspector and a head constable gave chase to the culprits and managed to overpower two of them, Anil and Sanju.
