Shimoga
By Our Special Correspondent
SHIMOGA, SEPT. 29. Sri Panditaradhya Swamiji of Sanehalli Math said here on Wednesday that industrialisation should be taken up in such a manner that it was complimentary to environment. Speaking as the chief guest at a function organised by the Industrialists' Association of Machenahalli and the Shimoga Rotary Club at Machenahalli Industrial Estate as part of a blood donation camp, oath taking for eye donation and tree plantation programme, he said though industries played a pivotal role in the economic development, they should not cause adverse impact on environment. He suggested that the industrialists should grow trees on their premises to check the adverse impact of their units on the environment. Emphasising that industrialists should not view workers as the working machines, the swamiji asked them to treat them with love and compassion. The swamiji also asked them to protect the saplings with care to allow them to grow into big trees. Terming blood donation as an invaluable contribution to society, he said people should be aware of the dangerous effect of AIDS.
