By Our Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH, SEPT.29. The Congress members staged a walkout in the Haryana Assembly today protesting the ruling of the Speaker, Satbir Singh Kadian, not to allow them raise the Sutlej-Yamuna Link Canal issue.

The House also witnessed sharp exchanges between the Treasury Benches and the Opposition. The Speaker warned the Acting Leader of the Congress Legislature Party, Ajay Singh Yadav, and the Congress MLA, Karan Singh Dalal.

The Chief Minister, Om Prakash Chautala, announced that the seventh unit of 250 MW at Tau Devi Lal Thermal Power Plant at Panipat was sychronised at 7.20 a.m. on Tuesday and the work to set up a 600 MW Thermal Power Plant at Yamunanagar had also been allotted at the lowest rate after inviting tenders and it would be synchronised within 30 months.

Mr.Chautala flayed the Congress leaders and held them responsible for the delay in the construction of the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal. He asserted that the Canal would certainly be completed.
