TUMKUR, SEPT. 29. Tumkur Zilla Madiga Dandora Meesalu Horata Samiti has decided to hold a black flag demonstration here on October 1 against the Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh. He is scheduled to visit here on that day for a public function. The samiti president, Raghavendra Swamy, and vice-president, Kalkere Srinivas, told presspersons here on Monday that the samiti launched an agitation in 1997 demanding classification in the reservation facility. They said, the then Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, had responded to the agitation and had formed the N.Y. Hanumanthappa Commission look into the matter. Mr. Swamy and Mr. Srinivas alleged that the Government wound up the commission after Mr. Hanumanthappa, retired judge of the Karnataka High Court, was elected to the Lok Sabha from Chitradurga. They said the Chief Minister recently announced that the commission would be reconstituted under H.G. Balakrishna, also a retired judge of the High Court.
