NEW DELHI, SEPT. 29. Some dramatic moments were witnessed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport when a three-wheeler scooter rickshaw driver was nabbed after a nearly two kilometre chase by two Central Industrial Security Force constables and one Delhi Traffic Police constable in a crane meant for lifting unauthorisedly parked vehicles while he was trying to decamp with the baggage of a passenger early on Tuesday morning. It was around 2-10 a.m. that the passenger, Kamlesh Singh, a resident of Kushi Nagar in Uttar Pradesh, reached Departure Gate No. 1 of the International Terminal in the TSR (DL-1R-F-2284) as he had to board a Kuwait Airways flight. However, as soon as he got down from the autorickshaw and was in the process of off-loading his baggage, the driver of the vehicle sped off. A shocked Mr Singh immediately raised an alarm which caught the attention of Constables Mehtab Singh and Shyam Sunder of the Crime and Intelligence Wing of CISF, who along with Constable A Singh of the Delhi Traffic Police immediately got onto a crane parked nearby and chased the autorickshaw. After chasing the TSR for nearly two kilometres, the police personnel managed to corner it and immediately pounced on the accused driver -- later identified as Yogender Mehto, a resident of Sita Ram Bazaar in Delhi -- and nabbed him. The accused driver was then taken before the passenger who identified him. While the bag was handed over to the passenger, so that he could board his flight, the accused driver was handed over to the Indira Gandhi International Airport police station for registration of a case. But the case took a curious turn later with the driver claiming that the passenger had forgotten his bag in the vehicle. As such he was let off by the IGI police without registration of any case.
