NEW DELHI, SEPT. 29. The Justice U.C. Banerjee Committee, probing into the cause of the fire in the Sabarmati Express at Godhra on February 27, 2002, has sought public help to elicit information on the incident.

The committee has issued a notification in this regard inviting members of the public to come before it and provide any information, which may be relevant to the incident.

The committee, assisted by three experts — K. Balakesari, S.K. Khanna and S.K. Dheri — started functioning from September 10, 2004 with the headquarters at the Rail Bhavan, New Delhi.

Members of the public willing to assist the Committee may contact Sanjiv Garg, Secretary, High Level Committee on Godhra Incident, on e-mail secylcg@rb.railnet.gov.in.
