TUTICORIN, SEPT. 29. M. B. Muraleedharan of Kerala and S. P. Sethuraman, a 11-year-old student of AVM Matriculation School (Chennai) were jointly in the lead with five points each at the end of the fifth round of the 17th annual SPIC Trophy FIDE-rated open chess tournament here today. On the top board, Muraleedharan, playing with the black pieces, beat Phoobalan of Coimbatore in 31 moves. Sethuraman, also with the black pieces, outwitted AL. Kasi of P & T in 43 moves on the second board.
Two share lead
In the non-medallist section, T. Vinoth Kumar of Masters Chess Academy (Nagercoil) and S. Vikas Raja Samuel of Chennai were leading with four points each after four rounds.
