TDP plotting to kill Paritala: Congress

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, SEPT. 29. The Congress Legislature Party has alleged that Telugu Desam leaders are hatching a plot to eliminate their party's Penukonda MLA Paritala Ravi for the sake of political mileage and to tarnish the image of the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the CLP secretaries, Konda Surekha, S. Gangaram and E. Pratap Reddy, advised Mr. Ravindra to take all precautions and protect himself from his "inner enemy'' as the TDP was allegedly hatching a plot against him. They urged the police to ensure protection to Mr. Ravindra as they feared that the Congress might be blamed by the TDP.

`Baseless charge'

They said the charge of TDP leaders that Congress was hatching a plot to eliminate Mr. Ravindra was not only ridiculous but also a sad reflection on their "xenophobic mindset.'' The TDP leaders must come out with a single good reason as to why they were making a hue and cry over the searches by the police on the houses of people against whom an array of criminal charges were pending and had been dropped by the erstwhile regime. They maintained that the MLA's house was not "a sanctum sanctorum'' that should not be searched by the police.
