NEW DELHI, SEPT. 29. It was an evening with a difference for lovers of Hindi poetry. And the occasion was introduction of "Bindu Sindhu Ki Oar" (A Drop in Search of an Ocean) -- a Hindi translation of best-select collections of poems written by the noted Tamil poet Vairamuthu -- brought out by the Hindi Academy. Select stanzas of Vairamuthu poems were read out by the well-know poet and Hindi films lyricist, Gulzar, and other litterateur. Speaking on the occasion, Gulzar said that both Vairamuthu and he belonged to the same profession. "We both write film songs but Vairamuthu writes better lyrics. Through his mesmerising work he succeeds in making Tamil film's hero and heroine dance. I am not able to do that. In fact, he is much senior to me and has written lyrics for 5, 600 songs in Tamil films. I dread to imagine what would have happened if he was penning lyrics in Hindi."
