AP team wins a legal battle

BANGALORE, SEPT. 29. The Karnataka High Court, on Wednesday, permitted the Andhra Pradesh team to participate in the 31st junior national Kabbadi championship for boys and girls beginning here on Thursday.

The organisers had informed the team that it would not be allowed to participate in the event as there was some misunderstanding among the members of the Andhra Kabbadi (Chedugudu) Association.

The association members, who were accompanying the team, decided to move the court as the organisers turned down their requests.

The petitioner said the dispute was between the office-bearers and not the players. It urged the court to direct the authorities to allow the Andhra team to participate.

Justice K.L. Manjunath directed the authorities to allow the players to participate in the event if they had been denied because of misunderstanding among the office-bearers. He also directed to issue notices to the President and General Secretary of the Amateur Kabbadi Federation of India, the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh, the Union of India and the Organising Committee of the 31st junior national Kabbadi championship for boys and girls. — Our Staff Reporter
