Pakistan plays Zimbabwe today

MULTAN, SEPT. 29. Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq wants to put the disappointment of his team's ICC Champions Trophy semifinal defeat behind him as his team seeks a victory over Zimbabwe in the opening game of the triangular one-day series here on Thursday.

``It's hard to compete against teams like Zimbabwe, because you never know what to expect from them,'' Inzamam told reporters on Wednesday.

``Zimbabwe is not a strong team but Sri Lanka is the tough team in this tournament,'' he said. I'm confident that we have the ability to give them (Sri Lanka) a tough time.''

Two new faces

Pakistan has included two uncapped players — seamer Rao Iftikhar and Bazid Khan, son of Majid Khan — in the squad of 15 for the triangular series.

Zimbabwe's 21-year-old captain Tatenda Taibu said he believed his team — whose average age is 21 — has nothing to lose from the tournament, with the pressure firmly on Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

``Our job is to play good competitive cricket, and in doing so, look for victory,'' Taibu said. — AP
