By Our Staff Correspondent MANGALORE, SEPT. 29. The Kendra Beary Sahithya Parishat will organise a meet of Beary (language) writers here on Saturday, according to the president of the parishat, U.J.M. Abdul Hak. Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, he said the meet would discuss aspects related to the formation of an academy for Beary language. This was the demand of the Beary community pending with the Government for a long time. But the response of the Government was not encouraging. The meet would take a decision on the next course of action to be taken in the matter.
Awareness
Mr. Hak said the meet would also create awareness among the Beary community on their education, literature and culture. The former Vice-Chancellor of Calicut University, M. Abdul Rehaman, would inaugurate the meet. There would be a session on "Beary language and literature''. Various writers would participate in it. B.M. Idinabba, chairman, Kannada Development Authority, would preside over a "Byari kavi goshti''. The meet would be held at the Ravindra Kalabhavan, University College. The parishat had over 150 members. It would soon launch a membership drive in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
