MANGALORE, SEPT. 29. Two persons posing as policemen snatched a purse from a woman on Old Kent Road in Mangalore South (Pandeshwar) Police Station limits on Tuesday. The police said that the impostors approached the complainant, Jayalaxmi of Kulshekar, who was wearing a chain, and "advised'' her not to do so because of incidents of chain snatching. After the woman removed the chain and kept it in her purse, the impostors snatched the bag and fled. Investigation is on.
Murdered
The Additional Superintendent of Police, B.S. Lokesh Kumar, has said that the Urwa Police retrieved the body of a woman from the Gurupur on Wednesday. The body was decomposed, he said and added that it the assailants could have dumped it three days ago. A rope was found tied to the neck of the victim and the mouth covered with a plaster. The Urwa Police have registered a case.
Raid
The Mangalore South (Pandeshwar) Police Inspector, Venkatesh Prasanna, and staff, raided Amrith cinema at Pandeshwar on Tuesday and seized reels of a pornographic film being screened there. A case has been registered in this connection.
Injured
Two persons were injured in as many accidents reported from Mangalore East (Kadri) Police Station limits. The police said a pedestrian, Shashikala, was injured when a car hit her near Tharethotta Garage. She was admitted to a private hospital. Narendra Pai, a pillion rider, suffered injuries when a motorcycle ridden by Narayan Pai, skidded and fell in front of Hotel Quality near Jyothi Circle.
