MANGALORE, SEPT. 29. There was tension in the Valachil area along the National Highway 48 in Mangalore Rural (Kankanady) police station on Tuesday after a goods vehicle killed two children who were on their way home from a madrassa. Three passengers of the vehicle and another child were injured in the accident. They were admitted to a private hospital here. The Additional Superintendent of Police, B.S. Lokesh Kumar, said Arshad (11) and Abdul Samad (12), residents of Valachil, were killed in the accident. The injured are Tanzil, a resident of Valachil, Padiappa, Gopal and Bheemappa, passengers of the vehicle. The police have taken Nemanna alias Neminath, driver of the vehicle, from Kadabba in Puttur taluk, into custody. Following the accident, a large crowd gathered at the spot. The police said the mob threw stones at vehicles passing by.
