BANGALORE, OCT. 1. Anup Sridhar and Rohan Castelino, trainees at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy, will leave for a three-week training stint with the Indonesian national team at Suyanaga Club in Surabahaya, Indonesia, on Saturday. The two will train there till October 22 before returning home for the Asian Satellite tournament, beginning in Hyderabad on Oct. 24. PPBA also would host Javed Iqbal, the national coach of Pakistan, for two weeks. This is the first time a badminton coach from Pakistan is being invited to train in India. According to Padukone, Director of the PPBA, the Pakistan Badminton Federation has been in touch with his academy to explore possibilities of sending some its prominent juniors to train here. The Sri Lankan national champion, Niluka Karunaratne, who trained at the PPBA, fared well in the New Zealand and Australian Open badminton championships recently. Niluka reached the final of the Australian Open and was a semifinalist in New Zealand. Niluka's world ranking has shot up to 71 from 121. The Sri Lankan Badminton Association has decided to keep him at PPBA till March, 2005. Our Special Correspondent.
