Bonhomie all through
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD,
OCT. 1.
The meeting between the Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, J. Jayalalithaa and Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Friday was marked by bonhomie and good humour. Dr. Reddy welcomed Ms. Jayalalithaa terming her "our tobuttuvu" (sibling) and recalled the strong bond between the two States. After exchange of pleasantries, the two got down to business, with Ms. Jayalalitha pointing to the hardships faced by people of Tamil Nadu due to drought and emphasising the need for early release of water from the Telugu Ganga.
Assuring a favourable response, Dr. Reddy went on to add that "AP would have been in a worse position but for help from the Almighty who blessed the State with some good rain". Ms. Jayalalithaa was quick to reply. "We have 36,000 temples and are offering prayers. Hope, He will do the same in Tamil Nadu," she said amid laughter.
