VIJAYAWADA, OCT.1. The Municipal Commissioner, V. Usharani, said that the need for homes for the aged was on the rise in the country. The elderly was taken care of better in some of these places than at their own homes, she added. Participating at the International Day for Older Persons programme organised at the Kanuru Home of the aged here on Friday, she said people did not have time for each other these days. Senior Citizens' Forum president, Chukkapalli Kuselava, said the forum strived to make the home a model one. He thanked the patrons for their support. The capacity of the home was increased from 25 to 40 two years ago, he said. Forum members, Muthavarapu Venkateswara Rao, V.S.Murthy, Y.S.R.K.Prasad, S.Kutumbha Rao, D.B. Rajendraprasad, Y.V.Koteswara Rao, J.Narayana Babu, N.Suryanarayana, Y.Raja Rao and K Jayapradhadevi, participated in the programme.
