Exhibition on Gandhi opened

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, OCT. 1. The Union Information and Broadcasting Minister, Jaipal Reddy, inaugurated an exhibition titled "Profiles of Mahatma Gandhi" at the National Gandhi Museum here today on the eve of the 135th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation.

The exhibition, which is on till November 30, features black and white pictures and quotes of Mahatma Gandhi.

Mr. Reddy took a special interest in a photograph of Mahatma Gandhi taking rest during his 21-day fast as penance for the communal disturbance in the country. By his side stood Indira Gandhi, who was merely six years old then. After reading the quote "For me patriotism is the same as humanity. I am patriotic because I am human and humane", Mr. Reddy remarked that everybody should practice it. "This exhibition is a must for every person. Anybody who comes here would have a cleansing experience," said Mr. Reddy, after taking a round of the exhibition. The Director of National Gandhi Museum, Y.P. Anand, informed him about the background of some of the pictures.
