PONDICHERRY, OCT. 2. Some 200 police personnel and volunteers of the Children Traffic Corps, today removed garbage and litter from the entire stretch of Beach Road as part of the `shramdhan' programme, highlighting the week-long Police Raising Day celebrations. The Inspector General of Police, P.R. Meena, led the drive to give a facelift to the beach road. The senior Superintendents of Police Sunil Garg, Kannan Jagadeesan, and other police officers took part in the clean-up. Later the IG of police presented spectacles to 20 auto drivers who were diagnosed with defective eyesight at a free camp recently.
