NEW DELHI, OCT. 2 . The Indian pair of Rahil Gangjee and Amandeep Johl were placed eighth after the penultimate round of the World Cup qualifiers being played at the par-72 Palm Resort Golf and Country Club in Senai, Malaysia. Although the Indians put up a much better show on Saturday with a card of three-under 69, their second day score of 74 meant they were left trailing leader Myanmar by nine strokes.
India's three-day aggregate stood at 210 (67-74-69) while Myanmar (201), represented by Kyi Hla Han and Soe Kyaw Naing, were leading second-placed Taiwan by just one stroke.
Gangjee, winner of the Volkswagen Masters in the Asia Tour in China in May, and Amandeep would have to put a marathon effort on Sunday if they are to finish among the top-four and make it to the World Cup, to be held in November in Seville, Spain. PTI
