MP flays `attacks' on Telugu Desam activists

By Our Staff Reporter

CUDDAPAH, Oct. 2. The Rajya Sabha member, C. Ramachandraiah, on Saturday accused the Congress of resorting to vindictive attacks on the Telugu Desam Party leaders and functionaries.

Speaking at the TDP's Cuddapah Assembly constituency meeting, the MP accused the Government of harassing officials and people who voted for the TDP. He claimed that the Telugu Desam Party lost power due to malicious propaganda by some sections, but was not rejected by the common people. He asserted that discontent against the Congress had already began among the people. The MP urged the party functionaries to strive to gain the lost ground in the ensuing municipal elections.

The new district TDP president, R. Ramesh Kumar Reddy, charged the YSR Government with resorting to vindictive acts against the TDP members. He asked the party functionaries to make concerted efforts to ensure that the TDP wrests the Cuddapah and Proddatur municipalities.

The former district president, K. Sivananda Reddy, accused the Congress Government of backtracking from its pre-poll promises. He asked partymen to enlighten the people on the dubious promises and the Government's disinterest to fulfil them.
