GHAZIABAD (UTTAR PRADESH), OCT. 3. More rocket shells were recovered today from the scrap imported from Iran to the Bhushan Steel Company factory here. A blast at the factory had claimed 10 lives and injured 15. The bomb disposal squad of the Army and the National Security Guards searched through the scrap kept in 11 trucks, which had been brought to Kanha Upavan, a scheduled area near the factory yesterday. ``Different kinds of shells have been found. Some of them are live,'' Major Sukhwant Singh, who was supervising the bomb detection operation told reporters. Police sources said that five rocket shells were found today. Mr. Singh said the operation had been stopped so that safety precautions could be taken before defusing the live ammunition. The sources said that defusing was likely to take place tomorrow. The factory has been sealed and the scrap-laden trucks have been brought out of the complex and parked near the Hindon river. The District Magistrate has announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs. 1.5 lakh to the next of kin of the dead, Rs. 50,000 each for those seriously injured and Rs. 25,000 each for those who suffered minor injuries. Inquiry sought The Communist Party of India (Marxist) said today in New Delhi that the Government should carry out an impartial inquiry on how the consignment of imported scrap containing explosives were cleared.
