KOLLAM, OCT. 3. Although the heavy downpour in the district for the past two days has not inflicted much damage, normal life has been affected. An alert has been sounded at areas in the high ranges of the district vulnerable to landslips. At the Pallithottam Settlement Colony in the city a house, owned by Gracy Titus, caved-in this morning as a result of the rains. There were no casualties. Power supply was disrupted in many areas as trees got uprooted and fell over power lines.
Kallada river
Reports from the high ranges in the eastern sectors of the district said that the Kallada river is flowing in spate. Heavy inflow into the Thenmala dam catchment area has also been reported. An alert on landslips has been sounded at Nagamala, Venchar and Rajakoop areas of Aryankavu grama panchayat in the district.
