Cloudy sky again

NEW DELHI OCT. 3. The weatherman has forecast a generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain/thundershower for Delhiites on Monday. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 32 and 22 degrees Celsius respectively.

The maximum and minimum temperature at Safdarjung on Sunday was 30.3 and 22.0 degrees Celsius respectively. At Palam, maximum and minimum temperature was 30.3 and 22.2 degrees Celsius respectively. Rainfall recorded in Safdarjung was 68.3 ml, while at Palam it was recorded at 52.0 ml.

The maximum relative humidity at Safdarjung and Palam was 96 per cent and 95 per cent respectively, while the minimum humidity at both Safdarjung and Palam was 70 per cent.

Suspected kidney `racket'

NEW DELHI OCT. 3. In another suspected case of illegal kidney transplant, a 35-year-old man has lodged a complaint with the New Delhi police alleging that his kidney was fraudulently taken out during an operation in a Noida hospital. On the basis of the complaint, the police today conducted a raid at the hospital.

It is learnt that the complaint has been lodged by a resident of Nabi Karim, Subhash Manchanda. In his statement, he alleged that about two years ago he had undergone an operation in a Noida hospital due to some ailment. Later when he consulted some doctors, they told him that one of his kidneys had been taken out.

Acting on his complaint, the police registered a case and reportedly mounted a raid at the Noida hospital today. Further investigations into the case are on.

Held for prostitution

New Delhi Oct. 3. With the arrest of five women including a landlady, the city police today claimed to have unearthed a prostitution racket in West Delhi.

The arrests were made in Nangloi police station area after a deal was struck by a decoy customer, police said, adding the girls in age group of 18 to 26 years belonged to middle class families. According to the police, the landlady used to provide her house for the flesh trade and take half the money charged by the girls from customers.

Auto lifters arrested

New Delhi Oct. 3. The North District police have arrested two alleged auto lifters including a juvenile and recovered two Maruti vans and one Pulsar motorcycle from them.

The first accused has been identified as Harish alias Rahul (23) of Azad Market while the police withheld the name of the other accused as he was a 17-year-old minor.

Sadar Bazar police and Bara Hindu Rao police have registered two separate cases against the accused and further investigation was on, they said.
