BANGALORE, OCT. 3. Speakers at the valedictory of a two-day symposium on social dimensions of Advaita philosophy on Sunday criticised casteism and called for spread of the expositions of Sankaracharya. They said the spread of Sankaracharya's philosophy, which did not distinguish between atma and paramatma, would bring in equality among all sections of society. M.V. Rajashekharan, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs, the leader of the Janata Dal (S), H.D. Deve Gowda the Deputy Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, said Advaita stood for humanity. The speeches of Mr. Deve Gowda and Mr. Siddaramaiah were read in their absence. Mr. Rajashekharan said lack of humaneness had found expression in the form of violence, speaking untruth, cheating, and similar evils. A time had come for all to indulge in introspection and adapt the tenets of Advaita. B.G. Arun Kumar, President of Advaita Foundation, spoke. Kunnakudi R. Vaidyanathan rendered a violin concert that enthralled the audience.
