Prostitution ring busted

Six persons were arrested on the charge of indulging in prostitution after raiding a flat in an apartment block in Padmaraonagar by Task Force (North) sleuths on Saturday. P. Satyanarayana Murthy and B. Sharada were accused of running the brothel house while P. Latha Rani, L. Madhuri, T. Radhika and Y. Anitha were charged with indulging in prostitution. The arrested persons had been handed over to the Chilkalguda police for further action, according to a press release on Sunday.

Shopper robbed of bracelet

A resident of Chelapura, N. Sambaiah, lost his 2.5-tola gold bracelet after a scooterist snatched it late on Saturday night at Siddiamberbazar. Sambaiah was returning home on his two-wheeler and stopped to buy flowers. Even as he was starting his vehicle, the chain snatcher came from behind, pulled it and sped away, the Afzalgunj police said on Sunday.

7 held on charge of gambling

The Task Force team apprehended seven persons on the charge of gambling following a raid on the house of a pan shop owner, E. Ramanjaneyulu, in Warasiguda. The house owner and six other players were arrested.

Liquor bottles seized

The Task Force Central team raided a house in Chintal Street of Khairatabad and seized 212 beer bottles and 390 liquor bottles of various brands. The house owner, B. Govardhan, was arrested for illegally storing and selling the bottles.
