Efforts on to make city polio-free by next year

HYDERABAD,
OCT. 3.
The Hyderabad Collector, Arvind Kumar, has said efforts are being made to make Hyderabad polio-free by next year.
He was speaking at a meeting of the presidents of Rotary Clubs in the city on Sunday.
He said the administration had made all the arrangements for the Pulse Polio programme on October 10 and November 21.
More than 6.5 lakh children under the age of five years would be covered, he said.
He said the Rotary Clubs were playing an important role in the Pulse Polio programme.
The Rotary Club Polio Plus director, Anil Chawla, said more than Rs. 28,000 crores has been spent on eradication of polio by the Rotary organisation across the world.
Ramesh Vangala, president of Rotary Club, Ameerpet and S. Venkateshwar Rao, Pulse Polio Coordinator of the Rotary Clubs also spoke.
