Bradman's statue destroyed

SYDNEY, OCT. 4. A group of drunken youths have destroyed a historic statue of cricketing legend Sir Donald Bradman, which had for many years adorned a place outside the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

According to the Age, the fibreglass statue had been bought by a businessman Cliff Gale from the Melbourne Cricket Club, and was placed in his front yard.

According to witnesses, a large group of youths in an inebriated state entered Mr. Gale's yard and attacked the statue. They smashed it, removing the bat and one of his hands and left them on a nearby railway track. — ANI
