Kramnik draws with Leko
BRISSAGO (SWITZERLAND),
OCT. 4.
After their 69-move battle on Saturday, Vladimir Kramnik of Russia and Peter Leko of Hungary settled for a quick draw in game six of the Dannemann World classical chess championship. They signed the peace treaty after 20 moves from a Spanish Opening here on Sunday.
It's 3-3, with eight games left. On the 14th move, Kramnik, the champion, was offered a centre pawn by the challenger. He, however, refused to take the bait, but six moves later, gleefully accepted the Hungarian's next offer.
