VELLORE, OCT. 4. Two women, going to Katpadi in a scooter, were killed when a Chennai-bound lorry dashed against their vehicle near the SIPCOT industrial estate at Puliyanthangal near Ranipet on the Madras-Bangalore Trunk Road this morning. According to the police, Shameem Banu (19), a student of the Vellore Institute of Technology and native of Hyderabad, staying in the CSI women's hostel at Ranipet, missed the VIT bus and asked her hostel mate, Nisha Devi (22) of Vriddachalam working as a plant engineer in the Common Effluent Treatment Plant at Vannivedu near Ranipet, to drop her. While Shameem Banu died on the spot, Nisha Devi died at the Government Vellore Medical College Hospital.
