HYDERABAD, OCT. 4. The administration is making all arrangements for the holy month of Ramzan, said Ministers, Mohd. Fareeduddin (Minorities Welfare) and Mohd. Ali Shabbir (Information). At a press conference on Monday, they said a meeting of heads of departments, including labour, transport and those responsible for supply for water and power, was held to make the arrangements all over the State.
Shops to remain open
For the first time, traders will be "officially permitted" to remain open 24 hours from the first of the holy month. In the State capital, the Metro Water Board was asked to ensure uninterrupted supply between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. daily during the entire month. APTransco was also told to provide power supply without disruption at nights, Mr. Fareeduddin said. Wherever required, the State-owned Road Transport Corporation will press buses into service.
For white card-holders
Regardless of the community they belonged to, white card-holders would get three kilos of sugar above their entitlement in the Ramzan month. About three lakh litres of milk would be kept at stock/sale points, in addition to the normal supply. Mr. Fareeduddin said the State Government had sanctioned Rs. 25 lakhs for taking up repairs/improvement to the Mecca Masjid and Shahi Masjid at Public Gardens. Also, the Wakf Board had released Rs. 67,000 for minor repair/improvements to 19 mosques in the twin cities.
