Cloud cover to stay

NEW DELHI OCT. 4. A partly cloudy sky with possibility of thundery developments or light rain in some areas is in store for the Capital on Tuesday. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 32 and 22 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperature recorded at Safdarjung on Monday was 31.4 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 23.4 degrees Celsius. At Palam, the maximum temperature and minimum temperatures were 31 and 25 degrees Celsius respectively.

Trace rainfall was recorded at Safdarjung.

The maximum relative humidity at both Safdarjung and Palam was 92 per cent while minimum relative humidity was 63 per cent and 65 per cent respectively.

No clues

NEW DELHI OCT. 4. Even as the post-mortem report is awaited, the police have made little headway in the mysterious case of the 25-year-old woman and her four-year-old daughter whose bodies were found near Meghdoot Bhavan on Mandir Marg here in the early hours of Sunday.

Sunita, wife of Manoj Kumar, and her daughter, Muskaan, were found dead on the footpath near Meghdoot Bhavan around 4-45 a.m. Manoj told the police that on Saturday night he had gone to India Gate along with Sunita and Muskaan and was returning home when his two-wheeler developed a snag. He made his wife and daughter wait at a certain place, while he went out looking for help.

When he returned, he did not find them there. He reported the matter to the police when he did not find both at home also. A search was conducted by the police and the bodies found near Meghdoot Bhavan around 4-45 a.m. There were no external injuries on the bodies. The police said they would take further action on the basis of the post-mortem report. Meanwhile, Manoj is being questioned to corroborate his statement.

Two held

NEW DELHI OCT. 4. Two persons allegedly involved in auto-lifting cases were arrested from Dabri in South-West Delhi on Sunday.

Acting on a tip-off that two men were moving around in a stolen motorcycle, the police laid a trap and intercepted the vehicle. They identified themselves as Ramu and Rakesh and revealed that they had stolen the motorcycle from Dabri the same day. Last month, they stole a motorcycle from Janakpuri and also from Shakarpur in East Delhi.

Arrested

NEW DELHI OCT. 4. Two persons, allegedly involved in cases of snatching, were arrested from Vasant Vihar in South-West Delhi on September 30.

The accused were identified as Rohit and Vinay. The police recovered a stolen purse containing Rs. 500, from their possession. They were arrested when they were trying to flee after snatching the purse from a woman.
