CHANDIGARH, OCT.5. The Haryana Cabinet, which met here today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, approved the creation of a new district in Mewat area, Satyamev Puram, with headquarters at Nuh. Satyamev Puram will have three sub-divisions (Ferozepur Jhirka, Nuh and Hathin); five tehsils (Ferozepur Jhirka, Punhana, Nuh,Tauru and Hathin); one sub-tehsil (Nagina); and six blocks (Ferozpur Jhirka, Punhana, Nagina, Nuh, Tauru and Hathin and some part of Hodel block). There will be a total of 549 villages in this district having a total population of 1,066,616 and an area of 2003 sq. km. At present, the State consists of four divisions, 19 districts, 48 sub-divisions, 67 tehsils and 46 sub-tehsils. However, there are still some areas, which, on account of their location, have remained comparatively under-developed. The decision to create a new district has been taken to bring the Mewat area at par with other areas, an official spokesman said. It may be recalled that Mr.Chautala had announced the creation of the new district on October 2. The spokesman disclosed that Nuh, Ferozepur Jhirka and Hathin have the potential for rapid industrial development keeping in view their proximity to the National Capital of Delhi. The Cabinet also revised the unemployment allowance disbursement scheme and the eligibility criteria for the educated unemployed youth of the State. Now, the unemployed youth, having matric or 10+2 qualification, would be paid unemployment allowance at the rate of Rs.100 per month and Rs.200 per month would be given to unemployed youth who are diploma holders, graduates or post-graduates. Under the scheme, only those applicants would be eligible who are matric or above and are domicile of Haryana. The applicant should have passed matriculation or higher secondary examination from Haryana School Education Board, Central Board of Secondary Education, Indian School Certificate or an equivalent Board recognised by the Government of Haryana. Similarly, the applicant also should have passed Bachelor's degree from a University in Haryana or any University recognised by the State Government. The scheme would be implemented for the benefit of job seekers who are registered with any Employment Exchange of the State as on November 1 every year. The parents of the applicant should not be income tax payees and they should not own commercial or residential property exceeding Rs.20 lakhs. The age of the applicant should be between 21 and 40 years which is relaxable by five years for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes. The previous condition whereby admissibility of allowance was limited to a maximum period of five years has been withdrawn. The spokesman disclosed that over 7.5 lakh job- seekers are expected to be registered for the unemployment allowance, which would entail an estimated expenditure of Rs.102 crores. Meanwhile, Mr.Chautala announced extension of the age limit for free travelling facilities to the National Youth Awardees in the buses of State Roadways up to the age of 50 years instead of 35 years.
