Tembe tames Ajay Ramaswami

NEW DELHI, OCT. 5. Kedar Tembe took the sting out of Ajay Ramaswami's explosive game with his impressive returns and tamed the fourth seed in straight sets in the first round of the men's section in the DSCL National tennis championship at the DLTA Complex here on Tuesday.

Generally busy pursuing his fortunes in the qualifying events of the Satellite and Futures tournaments,Kedar may fancy his chances against J. Vishnu Vardhan who won a marathon against qualifier Vijayendra Laad.

Another qualifier, Aditya Madkekar beat the eighth-seeded Sanam Singh in straight sets.

Smooth sailing for Aqeel

The top-seeded Aqeel Khan of Pakistan was quite smooth in his 6-3, 6-3 victory over lucky-loser Varun Walia. Aqeel will be challenged by qualifier Mohammed Yasser Arafat.
