`Encourage doctors in rural areas'
By Our Staff Correspondent
TUMKUR,
OCT. 5.
The Government must provide special support to doctors working in rural areas, Swami Japanandaji, president of Sri Ramakrishna Sevashram, Pavagada, has said.
Speaking at the inauguration of Indian Medical Association (IMA) House, auditorium and indoor shuttle court, at Pavagada Town in the district on Tuesday, the swamiji said that doctors working in rural areas required special expertise to treat all kinds of ailments and deal with people living under most unhygienic conditions.
"I have found them (doctors working in villages in India) far more knowledgeable than those practicing abroad," the swamiji said.
He urged the Government to recognise the services by doctors in villages and give them special encouragement.
