KOLAR, OCT. 5. The Secretary, Urban Development Department, Ravikumar, on Monday said that every effort would be made to solve the drinking water problem in Kolar Gold Fields. Mr. Ravikumar, who visited KGF as part of the team of officials to study the drinking water problem, also visited the mining areas where the problem is acute. The residents of KGF suggested to the official that the abundant water available in the now defunct mines be tapped to solve the drinking water problem. The team agreed to the suggestion and said that the water samples would be collected and a thorough analysis conducted. Srinivasa Reddy of the Karnataka Urban Water Supply Board, assured the residents that the authorities would take steps to provide drinking water. Kariappa, Assistant Executive Engineer, KUWSSB, and Nanjundappa, Assistant Engineer of the Robertsonpet Municipality, were also present.
