The change managers are here

By Anand Parthasarathy

BANGALORE, OCT. 5. Add two more terms to the alphabet soup of Information Technology-driven enterprises today: In an environment of increasing specialization and fine-focusing, corporates rolling out IT products and services now look for tools to help them overcome the sheer pain of change — and the techno-hassle of rolling out new versions or fresh releases.

The buzzwords for this are "Change Management" and "Version Control" — and a Canada-based leader in this niche — M.K.S. Inc. — has just come to India, in a marketing tie-up with IonIdea, an Indian-founded U.S.-and-Bangalore-based software player.

"After Canada and the U.S., India is the next Big Thing for us", said Michael Harris, Chief Operating Officer (COO) at MKS, "The outsourcing model being followed, even in high-end product development, with geographically distributed development teams, has created a new need for Enterprise Software Configuration Management (ESCM)."

The MKS "Toolkit" has been a popular product with corporates who needed to switch between Unix and Windows environments at mid stream, making the Waterloo (Toronto), company the fastest growing player in the SCM space.

Brindala Ananthram, co-founder and COO of the Fairfax,Virginia(US)-based IonIdea , explained that the independent software developer, has been distributing and supporting the MKS product suite in India since 1997.
