KHAMMAM, OCT. 5. The CPI (ML-Janashakti) will hold a public meeting in Pagideru, a forest village in Manuguru sub division, on October 13.
Arrangements on
The party supporters have already been busy with the arrangements in the village, which is in fact a stronghold of the People's War.
They are yet to obtain permission for the meeting. They have neither approached the police nor the Revenue Department for permission so far, said a senior official.
PW invited
The Janashakti State secretary, Amar, and other leaders including Riaz will take part in the meeting. The party has reportedly invited the People's War leaders also for the meeting.
The People's War local guerrilla squads of Manuguru, Charla and Venkatapuram are expected to support Janashakti for making the meeting a success.
The Janashakti activists have already been in touch with the martyrs' families in the pocket.
Pagideru village witnessed a major encounter between the police and the People's War in 1992. About ten naxalites were killed in the incident.
Strong network
The Karakagudem police station, a few kilometres away, came under the attack of the People's War in 1997 resulting in the death of 16 policemen.
The People's War has a strong network of village development committees working in Pagideru and Karakagudem areas.
